First day of School!!

WELCOME BACK!!

This week we are beginning by reviewing PE protocol. We will be making sure each student has been introduced to the following:

-Physical Education Class Rules
-The Bug Rules (what to do if another student is bugging you)
-Safety Drills:
Fire Drill
Duck and Cover Drill
Code Red Drill
-Introduction to basic playground rules

After we have completed all the safety guidelines we will jump right into our squads. At Davis we divide each classroom class into four squads. Your child will be in one of the four following squads- East, West, North, or South. The squads will be set for the entire school year. They enable us to move more quickly from instruction to activity, and they allow us to divide the children up quickly for skills work or large group games. Ask your student what squad they are in!

As soon as the squads are set we introduce the students to our warm ups! Everyday your child comes to PE they will take the first 4 to 5 minutes and run through a quick fitness warm up. We have four categories to focus on during warm-ups: muscular strength, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, and speed & agility! The warm ups will be changed every 6- 8 weeks, but we will always focus the warm-ups on our four fitness categories!

Once the squads and warm-ups are set we are ready to get some serious physical activity in! We will be starting this year by introducing/reviewing some of our large group activities! These are games and activities that we might use on a fun Friday or a rainy day.
